The event that will end Fortnite Season 4 is only a week away. Fortnite has confirmed that Galactus will arrive on the island on December 1, likely bringing destruction with him.
Anyone who regularly follows Fortnite news knows that this event is set to be the biggest in history. The files containing the Nexus War event are ten times larger than “The End” event, which was the largest event at its time. It’s also significantly larger than the Travis Scott event, which stunned players when it released.

With this being the case, we can probably all agree that it won’t be business as usual once the event concludes. Galactus will probably achieve his goal of, at least, reaching the Zero Point, and our heroes will escape by the skin of their teeth.

The only problem with this is that the Season 4 event doesn’t lead us directly into Season 5. There’s a reported 36-hour gap between this season and the next one. This happens to be the exact amount of downtime that followed the Black Hole.
Data miners have also begun reporting that the next season may happen quicker than that – that there will be 10 hours between seasons rather than 36. Whichever ends up being the case, we’re in for some downtime and, likely, the end of Chapter 2.
When we say that there’s going to be another Black Hole, we don’t necessarily mean it literally. We may not enter a Black Hole for the second time, but all signs point to something happening and causing Fortnite to go down ahead of the Season 5 release.
We all know how often Fortnite tournaments and competitive events happen. There was a Cash Cup, Marvel tournament, or another way to play competitive Fortnite nearly every day in Season 4. There are no events scheduled between December 1 at 4 PM EST (the time of the event) and December 3 at 4 AM EST (the presumed release time for Season 5).
Data miners are even reporting that the lobby for the end of Season X – the Black Hole lobby – returned to the game files with the most recent update. According to iFireMonkey, the text related to this string said, “To be Continued… In Season 5.” What does that suggest if not some downtime between seasons?
Multiple files were added relating to “RockyRidge”.
After talking with some people, it appears this was used back in Season X for the Lobby version of the Black Hole event.

This wasn’t the only past event that was added to the game files. We assume that Fortnite will bring us back through the game’s eras and the biggest events from those times. This lobby change, however, only adds to the evidence of significant downtime between seasons.
As of now, the Fortnite Season 5 release date is still up in the air. Most of the signs we’re seeing point to Season 5 releasing on December 3 at 4 AM EST – 36 hours after the event that will end Season 4.
