With the COVID-19 pandemic preventing the Nashville Songwriters Association International from holding its annual Nashville Songwriter Awards in person this fall, the NSAI has partnered with Billboard to present a multi-part video series honoring the winners.
The awards, presented by City National Bank, which are based on Billboard’s charts, will unspool Sept. 22 with billboard.com and Billboard’s YouTube channel premiering the songwriter of the year video. On Sept. 29, Billboard will debut the songwriter/artist of the year and on Oct. 6, the song of the year.
This year’s lineup will also feature a “10 Songs I Wish I’d Written” segment featuring appearances by Lady A, Old Dominion, Josh Osborne, Matt Stell, Barry Dean, Natalie Hemby, Jon Pardi, and more. The video will premiere Oct. 5 on NSAI’s YouTube channel.
Past recipients and honorees have included Loretta Lynn, George Strait, Ashley Gorley, Luke Combs, Bill Anderson, Osborne and more.
Established in 1967, the NSAI, a not-for-profit songwriters trade organization, has a membership of more than 5,000 songwriters.
