Former NFL large receiver Donald Reche Caldwell died at the age of 41 more than the weekend, in accordance to his former staff the New England Patriots.
The Patriots tweeted their condolences more than learning the news of Caldwell’s loss of life on Sunday, but did not give particulars on his result in of dying. Caldwell’s mom, Deborah Caldwell, instructed NBC affiliate WFLA he died on Saturday for the duration of an “ambush” in Tampa, Florida.
The Tampa Police Office would not verify Caldwell’s loss of life to NBC Information, but did affirm they had been investigating a murder in which a target was shot and killed Saturday evening. Whilst the investigation is ongoing, the department explained it did “not look to be a random act.”

Caldwell was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 2002 immediately after playing at the College of Florida. In 2015, Caldwell was sentenced to 27 months in federal jail immediately after pleading guilty to a drug cost, according to the Tampa Bay Moments.
